I got to know from one of my friends who kinds enough to introducing me to this Indonesian Balinese food, Naughty Nuri, which located at Desa Sri Hartamas. When we arrived there, it is crowded with people. It is just a typical weekday, and to my surprise, it is this many people having dinner at this place. I see this place decoration almost resembles places in Kuta, Bali. Not to mention that they do have a shop in Bali and it is the first and original store. I do curious why the first name is naughty, as it is not a common name for a restaurant.
While waiting for our big feast, we start with porky nachos with cheese. I wish the cheese is more so that the bottom nachos able to eat with cheese. The taste pretty much nothing special, except it is pork and not common for Malaysian dishes.
Our second dish is a grilled hog’s platter. We order two plates for this simply the roast pork invites us to have the second plate. The moment I eat the sausage, it is juicy and pleasant. I love this platter dish and no regrets to have the second plate.
Here comes the signature dish of Naughty Nuri that the waiter recommends to us. It is signature pork ribs. I love it much. They use Indonesian’s traditional sweet soy sauce so that you can taste the sweetness in the juicy pork meat. I wish they increase the portion as the group that I ate with are all carnivores, and they do finish this dish so fast. We even eat it with fingers, so that we can suck the bone to clean all the meat that sticks to the bone. I personally highly recommend this dish for first-timer, and in fact, I will order this again when I come to dine here.
Our next meal is this traditional notorious short ribs. This rib is not pork ribs, but beef ribs. The juicy and tenderness of the meat, together with eating with white rice. Indeed it is really how Indonesian people enjoy it much. I also want to highlight the sambal (chili); it cooked nicely. If they put fried garlic and using different kind of rice that is dry, this dish will become the all-time favorite dish that you will want to have.
Of course, to shows to our wives and for health purposes, we do order salad. Nothing much that I can say for this except it is green, with pork, and right to eat as ‘sorbet’ to wash our meaty taste. This plate is must-have for Instagram purposes, and mainly for a guilt-free dish.
Overall, the Naughty Nuri restaurant is worth one star. It is quite close to two stars in my personal opinion. Just that it needs to improve in their seasoning to make each dish outstanding, if you eat pork ribs and also beef ribs, you would not find too many different seasonings which sad to say it does not bring the uniqueness of these two dishes. I even ensuring my tongue clean for any taste to test these two dishes. There are some parts of the meat dry and hard, I believe it is overcooked on the grilled that makes it hard, plus sweet soy sauce makes it hard to cook nicely on top of the charcoal. I do recommend to come to this place in group so that you can enjoy their big platter.
