When my first time visiting the origin place of Canton Kitchen in Bukit Tinggi, the restaurant name is Foon Look, I grow a strong like of the cooking style. The vegetables are fresh and they grow by themselves, and all ingredient freshness is guarantee and source from local supply. I was told that Canton Kitchen are their branches in KL and I have chances to pay a visit in their branch located at Seri Gembira Avenue, which is still within Old Klang Road area.
The place that I visit has good design, it resemble old chinese movie theatre. It also contain couple of old chinese stuff where people can have flash back memory.
For me, the one thing that catch my attention is their Wi-Fi password which you can find every part of the wall at the restaurant.
Our first order is Hakka Pumpkin Meat Ball. it is recommended by waiters as their one of signature dish that can only be found in Canton kitchen and their branches. I am a bit sceptical regarding this claim but for time being I just believe what he said. This dish has changes my perception for the restaurant, as each bite I can taste the spices and also balance of salt and oil. The feeling is like chewing fish ball cake, but softer. It is really delicious and I would really recommending this dish for those who are first timer.
Second dish that comes is Kampung Chicken, It is nothing special at the beginning, until when you eat with garlic and soy sauce. It required fresh and organic Kampung chicken (village chicken) to make the dish outstanding, and the meat is not too hard and oily, plus you can eat it without rice as the taste is balance enough with chicken. I wish they put a little bit more fried garlic.
Now, lets talk about what I really love among the dish that we order, Stir Fried Crispy Pork, is outstanding and highly recommended. I really love the taste, crunchiness, plus it is not too oily. They using less oil to fried the pork, and also using its own oil while stir fried it with soy sauce. The crispiness is outstanding and marvellous.
The fourth dish is Tau Foo dish. What I heard they make their own soy sauce for this dish, and sparingly generous meat and spring onion. It is not really outstanding dish but good enough to mention.
Our last dish is their own planted vegetables, stir fried watercrest with mushroom. They have their own place to grew the vegetables and also mushrooms, so the freshness and organic is guarantee. Yes, it is crunchy and taste nice when you eat it with rice, as I like to eat this together with some chilli.
Overall Canton Kitchen worth one star restaurant due its freshness and also the way how they control the fire to keep the food fresh. The salt level also balance even it is taste nice when you eat the dish by its own. Some dishes, like crispy pork and also steam chicken, the oil is not too much to my preference. If you want to dine in this place, I suggest you need to come early during dinner time or come after 8 PM as the place often pack with people that stay nearby Seri Gembira and there are even a group of people willing to wait to dine in this place. I have not order their steam fish and also asam fish, which the waiters bragging about the dish, I will keep it for reference in the future when I want to visit the place again in Seri Gembira Avenue.
