I had been many times visiting Char Siew Zhai restaurant and I think it is worth to have review on this restaurant. It is located conveniently at taman paramaunt garden, if you know Giant paramaunt garden, it is not far from there. There are two famous wantan mee in Taman Paramaunt that local people often goes and Char Siew Zhai is one of it.
The sign board is big and very easy to spot. Beside that, you can also easily spot some crowd people during lunch time, as many local comes here to have lunch. There are times where we also need to wait and queue, so choose the timing wisely.
The menu pretty simple and straight forward. They even pretty transparent with the price so you can order according to your budget as well. The only thing that might help is to contain some picture of the food or putting some star or remark for restaurant special menu or chef recommendation. That way will help first timer to choose their food.
The decoration of the place pretty simple and straight forward. It does design for efficiency in serving customer in fast way, and also people easily comes and go from the place.
This is what my wife order, she wants to have siew youk, and her serving is normal. Normal serving is good enough for average woman and it comes with 8 pcs of siew youk.
For me, I like to eat char siew and my serving is large. I am really starving and that is why I order large. The serving really bigger than what in my mind, too bad the char siew is fixed regardless you order medium or large.
Overall the wantan mee is outstanding, I was told that it is own made by themselves. I like the noodle a lot, but for the char siew it is good but not outstanding enough. The softness is good, just that it does not have ‘melting’ feeling when it goes to your mouth. Ah, the vegetable inside the noodle is really less. From my experience dining here, I would like to give one star for this restaurant as the taste and the noodle. If they can improve the char siew and also siew youk taste, it will be worth two stars.
