My friend and me travelling from Subang to Broga hill just to enjoy aluminium grilled steam fish. We are both hungry when we left from Subang and the road takes about one and half hours. With so many toll gates that we passed by, and also many new development of houses along the way, during the trip we talk about how this dish must be really outstanding to make us to travel until this long distance. When he mention about having fish feast at fishing park, to me I always thinking that the fish gonna be fresh and good.
When we arrive at the place, one thing that I notice is there is no line here. This is really good, as it means that I can enjoy peaceful lunch without being interrupted with calls or emails. The place was simple, and it is really have big pond. I am not sure how much they charge for you to fish, but this kind of fishing has no challenge for me due the chances to catch is really high.
The sign says that it is fishing park, but you can go inside and dine in there. They serve grilled fish that wrapped with aluminium foil. It is same as Portugese grilled fish at China town KL, same style but the taste is different.
We arrive around 3:30 PM, what makes me amazed that there are still people comes to this place to dine in. I am talking about the place where it is quite hard to find, and people are still coming here. I guess we are not the weird one in the place.
This is the first dish that we tried, Chilli padi sauce. It has two level of spiciness and we take the most spicy that they can offer. The sauce is soy sauce, and they squeeze the chilli padi into this soy sauce and use the sauce to cook the fish. It has few pieces lady finger to add the taste of the fish. I like this fish a lot as the fish taste is sweet, which only fresh fish able to produce such sweetness, and spicy.
Second fish that we tried, Asam sauce. Woow it is outstsanding taste and unique flavour. If you really like some unique flavour, this one is a must that you need to try. I never taste such fish taste, and it is so good to enjoy with rice.
This is the third and last fish that we order, nyonya style. Personally I like this one more than the other two. It gives sweetness and spiciness, at the same time you can taste tomatoes taste significantly. This is the most outstanding nyonya fish that I had ever try.
We order another two vegetables, and after I taste the eggplant, I would not order when my second visit. It is like potatoes soaked in the water pretty long. My friend know that I like eggplant but only when they cook it nicely. The ladyfinger is outstanding. I was told it is plant by the owner at the back of the pond, and they are using natural way to grow. It is crunchy and fresh.
Overall this place earn two stars, as it is worth to travel far just to dine in this place. Personally I will come back for second time or even more for this place to try few variety more of the fish. One tip when ordering this, do not choose the fish that big, always asking the smallest fish to cook as the older the fish the taste would not as good as the young one. The only draw back that I did not like to come to Broga is far from my place. If you like hiking, broga hill is good place for it, and come visit this place after your hiking session.
