I had passed by restaurant Absolute Thai many times whenever I visit Ikano, with that many times, actually I never had a chances to dine in. Simply because I always go to Ikea to have their meatball. So today I told myself that let’s try Absolute Thai restaurant. Since it is raining, good mood for having tomyam soup.
I like their decoration, it is simple enough but having Thai characteristic. It reminds me of a restaurant in Bangkok. So I took my time to appreciate the decoration and ambient of the restaurant.
The menu design is attractive and simple enough. Thanks for the price stated there, I can carefully choose the right dish without breaking my wallet. After much consideration, I am settled with tomyam soup with chicken and then stir-fried beef with ginger.
So the tomyam soup comes with the hotpot. Commonly the soup only comes with big bowl, but in Absolute Thai it has option to choose hotpot. This type of tomyam soup need to serve in warm conditions, or else you will feel something sticky in your throat after eating it. This dish quite lacking in coconut milk. I suspect they did use the instant one rather than original coconut milk. I know that in restaurant like this, it is make sense to get instant one, but of course it will sacrifice the great taste. Beside the Tomyam based soup, and chicken taste, it is quite weak and watery. Still, I would give good credit for sourness and saltiness.
The second dish is stir-fried beef. I like this one, it taste sweet and it cooked just nice. The beef is tender and saltiness just fine. This one is highly recommended, as I really love the taste of the meat mix with ginger.
Overall, this place is worth to recommended, I really wish the tomyam base is slightly stronger and using fresh coconut milk. Apart from that, the white rice is fragrant and they do use authentic Thai rice.
